Proteomic analysis in three sweetpotato cultivars with different flesh color of storage roots

This study was conducted to compare the proteome expressed in the three sweetpotato cultivars with white(cv.Yulmi),yellow(cv.Sinhwangmi),and purple(cv.Sinjami)flesh color of storage roots.Total proteins were extracted from the storage roots using phenol method.The protein samples were separated by two-dimensional electrophoresis(2-DE),and visualized by Coomassie Brilliant Blue G-250 (CBB G-250)staining.Total 59 protein spots were differentially expressed in the storage roots of the three cultivars.Further study will be conducted to determine physiological functions of these proteins using matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time of flight(MALDI-TOF)mass spectrometry(MS)and/or quadrupole(Q)-TOF MS/MS analysis.
