Variations of soluble sugar content in storage roots of sweetpotato during their growing periods
Results of measurement and analysis of soluble sugar content in storage roots of nine sweetpotato varieties in different growing periods indicate that the general trend of soluble sugar content in storage roots during their growing period after transplanting is very high in the earlier growing stage, then decreased rapidly, attaining its lowest at around 100 d and then remaining stable fluctuation during the middle stage and finally it arise slowly in the later stage. There have significant correlations between soluble sugar contents of different growing periods. These results would provide scientific basis for breeding and industrialization of sweetpotato.
