Productivity of designed silvopastoral systems in five agro‐ecological regions of India
One of the main reasons attributed to low productivity of livestock in rainfed regions of India is insufficient supply of quality fodder.Silvopasture systems that integrate trees, pasture species and also livestock offer potential in meeting forage and other requirements besides land conservation (Singh & Roy, 1993).In five agro‐ecological regions of India such systems were designed and developed for utilization of the degraded areas, including self‐owned or community lands. The results are presented in this paper.
