Analysis of Electromagnetic and Flow Field in ESR System
Focused on the research object that electrode, slag, steel fluid and ingot, the paper has made a 3-D finite element model. The distribution of magnetic field, electromagnetic force, current density and fluid field of steel fluid has been deeply studied, and the influence of different process parameters has been also researched. The simulation results shows: the distribution of electromagnetic field performances as significant skin-effect phenomenon, and it decreases to the middle; as flowing from up to down, current reach the maximum at the end of electrode; on the horizontal section, magnetic distribution appears as rotating shape, and correspondingly the direction of electromagnetic force points to the center which can’t improve the inner organization structure of ingots; the magnetic induction and current density of slag approach to 0; as the frequency increases, skin effect of current density distribution gets more obvious, but once beyond 35hz reflux will appear whose peak increases with frequency; the flow field distribution of steel fluid region turns out that two symmetric rotating flows appear near the wall surface and the maximum flow speed is up to 0.059m/s near the slag surface.
