Nonlinear Dynamics of Acoustic Compressors

Analysis of the nonlinear features of Acoustic Compressors(AC)is carried out by reducing a developed distributed-parameter model to a single-mode dynamical model through the use of the mode shape corresponding to the excitation frequency. The single-mode models are developed for ACs with entirelydriven and piston-driven resonators with cylindrical cavities. This approach reveals that the dynamics of entirely-driven cavity resonators reduces to that of a Duffing oscillator with a softening cubic stiffness which is subjected to simultaneous harmonic and parametric excitations.However,piston-driven resonators reduce to a Duffing oscillator which is subjected to only harmonic excitation.
