Biological control and integrated rangeland weed management
Non‐native, exotic plant species have become dominant in many grasslands and rangelands of the world Controlling exotic plant pests is necessary to restoring desirable, sustainable plant communities. Methods to control invasive plants are numerous, but achieving sustainable plant community change requires strategic, integrated management that is well planned and ecologically sound.Biological control of exotic plants is an important component of an integrated management program.Biological stresses include those exerted by specialized natural enemies or carefully managed livestock grazing, which contribute to population decline of the exotic plant and facilitate vegetation management.
