Effect of nitrogen and foliar spray of bio‐regulators on seed production of Lasiurus sindicus
Sewan (Lasiurus sindicus) is a well adapted range grass of Great Indian Desert, however, its area in rangelands is decreasing due to habitat degradation and poor seed buildup in soil. For the restoration of degraded pastures, seed is a major limiting factor.Apart from frequent droughts, seed production itself is difficult in this grass.Unsynchronized tiller appearance, anthesis and spikelet maturity causes severe loss of seed.Since physiological approaches to improve dry matter partitioning for improved seed yield have become important, thiourea, a plant bio‐regulator has been found potent in some cereals like oat, wheat, etc.The present investigation was conducted to explore the possibility of improving seed production through physiological means along with the effects of nitrogen.
