Dynamic changes of tannin contents in five varieties of tropical leguminous forages at different growth stages and their responses to fertilization
Tannins are the main anti‐nutritional factor of tropical leguminous forages.Excessive tannin content could decrease the palatability of forages, but the lower content of tannin could cause ruminal tympany. It is generally thought that the optimal content of tannin was 1% ‐3% (Strickland et al.,1985).This paper studied the concentration changes of total tannin ( TT) and condensed tannin (CT) in five varieties of leguminous forages at different growth stages with different fertilizer levels.
