Relation of endogenous hormone and creeping‐rooted character performance in alfalfa
Creeping-rooted character in alfalfa was originated from yellow flowered (Medicago f alcate L.) which can originate a shoot from the root system,and provide the plant with a rhizome-like ability to regenerate in stands.This habit of spreading by means of root proliferation provides alfalfa with a form of vegetative spread and multiplication,which confers to the plant greater resistance to abiotic and biotic stresses,and greater power of recovery from injury than ordinary growth habit. so as to be traditionally categorized as pasture-type( Heinrichs etal.1960);This character has been proved to be associated with winter tolerance and grazing‐tolerance(Brummer etal.1991),while the drought tolerance mechanism has not been reported.
