As an overseas Chinese operating in China for over 20 years, Mr Ng provides a firsthand account of the development of Chinas seafood processing industry in the recent decades as the country makes its transition from a planned economy into a market economy. The factors that have shaped Chinas seafood processing industry are discussed, including its dynamics with other seafood-producing nations, early difficulties and the perception problems faced. The various factors contributing to Chinas rise as the worlds largest reprocessing centre for frozen fish products are also discussed.
