Electromagnetic Radiation Response Laws of Periodic Roof Pressure on Working Face
Our experiments have showed that electromagnetic radiation (EMR) is a physical phenomenon produced in the deformation and fracture of coal or rock and it has a close relation to the degree oftbe deformation and fracture of coal or rock under load. There are EMR signals produced and collected in the roofs with periodic fracture on the working face. The greater the roof pressure, the more active the roof movement, and the stronger the EMR signals. EMR testing results in Huafeng coalmine showed that the obvious EMR abnormity appeared before the periodic roof pressure appearance, and EMR signals responded well to the periodic roof pressure in the process of edvancing of working face. So the EMR technology can be used to monitor the roof movement and forecast the periodic roof pressure on the working face.
