UV-Fenton Oxidation for Treatment of UDMH Wastewater and Kinetic Studies

1, 1-Dimethylhydrazine (UDMH) is the principal component of liquid propellant, which has been classified as a third class toxicant. The experimental study of oxidation of UDMH aqueous solution using UV-Fenton process was undertaken. In this study, two main UDMH degradation conditions which were initial H202 concentration and initial Fe2+ concentration were investigated. The experiment results showed that 4758.3mg/L H2O2 and 1296.9 mg/L FeSO4.7H2O arc the optimal experiment conditions for the UDMH UV-Fenton degradation process, and under this conditions the UDMH degradation rate can reach 99.6%. The kinetic model of UDMH degradation rate was established in this study, which were under the reaction conditions of solely ultraviolet and of UV-Fenton respectively.
