Statistical Analysis of Road Tunnel Operation Accidents
With the fast development of the transportation, tunnel traffic is experiencing high speed development, and more and more road tunnel operation accidents took place. Road tunnel operation accidents tend to have severe, Iongtime consequences, even secondary disaster, in addition to immediate tragic casualties and enormous economic loss. 103 typical operation accidents of long and big cross-section road tunnel were collected and analyzed statistically in the paper to find out the main cause of these accidents and the correlation of each contributing factor, so as to facilitate future studies and the management of road tunnel operation. It is concluded from the study that road tunnel operation accident occurrence is possibly influenced by weekdays and seasons, tunnels between. 0.25 km and 3 km in length are more susceptible to accidents, and there is a higher percentage of accidents involving trucks than other vehicle types.
