Safety Analysis on Longitudinal Settlement and Crack Width of Shield Tunnel Segments in Operation Period
With construction of city subway and cross-fiver tunnels, shield driven tunnels are widely used owing to its technological and economic advantages. However, the development of longitudinal settlements along with the crack of segment joints in longitudinal direction and the induced leakage have been monitored in operation period in Shanghai metro tunnels which greatly affected the safety of trains. Two different tunnel models were manufactured to investigate the effect of longitudinal segment joints on mechanical behavior. The longitudinal settlement and crack of joints were measured and then the relationship between longitudinal curvature and crack of joints was found. The results show that the existence of joints greatly reduces the rigidity of tunnel, the distribution of longitudinal settlement and crack width arc similar width Gaussian curve and its curvature function separately. The crack of joints is positively correlated to the curvature of settlement curve. The results provide guidance for tunnel waterproof design and protection of shield tunnel.
