Unascertained Average Grade Model for Surrounding Rock Classification on Hydraulic Tunnels
The classification of rock surrounding on hydraulic tunnel has an important significance for guiding design and construction. It is a complex system, especially there is much unascertained information. Due to the above questions, unascertained average Grade method (UAG) for classifying surrounding rock in tunnels is proposed in this paper. Six major factors influenced surrounding rocks stability in tunnel such as rock quality designation, intactness index of rock mass, saturated uniaxial compressive rock strength, longitudinal wave speed, rock mass elasticity resisting coefficient and friction coefficient of structure plane represenf the factors of the UAG model. Taking the Dong Shen Water Supply Reconstruction Project (China) as an engineering background, the UAG model for classifying surrounding rock of tunnels is established by using 30 groups measured data. Each of 30 surrounding rock groups measured data is tested according to the model; the correct rate is high. The UAG model for classifying rocks surrounding in tunnel is tested in experimental classifications of typical rocks surrounding in the Zou Ma Gang tunnel in the Dong Shen Water Supply Reconstruction Project. The classification of 7 groups measured data of the Zou Ma Gang tunnel are predicted by using this model, indicating that the predicted classification was consistent with the actually measured one. Therefore, the results show that the UAG model can be used to predict the classification of tunnel surrounding rock, and the prediction accuracy is acceptable. It is a new way to be used for predicting the classification of rocks surrounding in hydraulic tunnel.
