Study on Feasibility of Weathered Argillaceous Siitstone for High-speed Railway Roadbed
On the basis of weathered argillaceous siltstone(WAS) along Wuhan-Guangzhou passenger dedicated line, a lot of tests were done to judge its feasibility of filling the high-speed railway roadbed, such as X-ray diffraction analysis, particle size distribution test, compaction test, and tests for unconfined compression strength, shear strength, resilient modulus, CBR, dry-wet cycle and compression properties. The results show that the resilient modulus of WAS can be applied in roadbed and slope. The WAS makes good agreement with the stiffness and strength requirement; It is of good moisture stability indoor, but easy to be disintegrated in rainy or frosty circumstance. Gradation has great impact on the mechanical characteristics of WAS. So the measurement of enhancing the coarse-grained soil ratio or improving gradation with medium coarse sand would be an effective way to achieve the expected compaction, which is also beneficial to increase the strength and stability of the roadbed
