Icing Numerical Simulation and Verification of AEDC Method
At present, almost all icing tests are performed with scale models in icing wind tunnels, the scale icing conditions are determined by many scale methods. But the icing tests with icing tunnel are expensive, especially for china; there havent an indeed icing tunnel. In this case, the feasibility evaluation of. icing numerical simulation technology used to icing scale study is of significative. In this paper two icing simulations were performed with cylinders. The reference cylinder diameter is 50.8 mm (2 in) and the scale model is 25.4 mm (1 in). Scale simulation conditions were acquired by using AEDC method, which is one of the scale methods. The results show that the flow field, droplets impingement characteristic and ice accretion process agree well for both the reference and scale cylinder. The studies imply that the AEDC method is effective, and FENSAP-ICE can be used to icing scale study.
