Fracture Mechanics Analysis on Composite Macro-Cracks Extension in Coal Seam Pre-splitting Blasting
During Pre-splitting Blasting in coal seam, the macro-cracks coming from blasting shock wave are composite ones in fact, however, for most oftbe fundamental researches, attention was concentrated on simplex mode-! fracture and the influence of methane pressure was ignored. According to fracture mechanics theories, this paper analyzed detailedly the characteristics of stress field and intensity factors ahead of crack tip, and educed extension directions, fracture roles and extension length of the macro-cracks by most-shear stress principle. Taking account of practice application in spot, maximal length and minimal length were working-out. Such a study will be significant not only for perfecting more the theory of pre-splitting blasting in coal seam but also for serving practice application.
