Experimental Study on Macro-properties of Coal Adequate Oxidation under Constant Temperature
Two types of coal samples were selected and heated under a series of constant temperatures, and temperature-time curves were obtained. Experimental results show that through long-time oxidation of certain temperatore, the reaction ceases, which occurs at higher temperature. In micro-structure, this is because the amount and species of active functional groups oxidized are certain under c, eertain temperature, and the more groups are oxidized when the temperature is higher. Also, when the temperature of the samples no longer exceeded the environmental temperature during heating, indicating no potential for oxidation to occur, the coal was took out and the masses were measured. The variations of the coal mass present the characteristic, firstly decreasing, secondly increasing and last quickly decreasing with the heating temperature. The analysis shows that under relative low temperature, the mass of the sample decreases due to the water evaporation, and under relative high temperature, coal and oxygen compounds into the transient products with few gas produced, so the mass of the sample increases. Under higher temperature, both the decomposition of the transient products and the direct reaction between coal and oxygen occur, with gas products releasing, that lead to the reduction of the mass. The change rules of temperature and mass that coal presents after adequate oxidation under constant temperature in this work, are the embodiment of micro-reaction mechanism in macro-phenomenon. Through the study, we can better understand the macro-phenomeoon in the process of combination between coal and oxygen, and provide the new way for prevention of coal spontaneous combustion.
