Numerical Simulation on Oil-well Blowout Process

Blowout accidents not only cause environmental pollution, but also hurt people in the large region. Gas ignition in open space within explosive limit concentration is a effective measure to control blowout accident. Simulation can be used to determine the spraying speed, height, concentration and ignition area, which is important for emergency. By analyzing the theory of compressed fluid, some simulations for different size vents, pressure, wind speed situations were done with CFD method. The results of jet speed, concentration and the possible ignition location and scope, as well as the spray situation at critical state condition are achieved. Simulation results are consistent with the results from experiential formula.
