Simulation Analysis of Safe Shutdown Time in Qing-Ha Oil Transportation Pipeline

Buried hot oil pipeline is inevitable to be shutdown due to the reasons of leakage, planned maintenance and so on. The oil temperature in the pipe will decrease and the viscosity will increase after shutdown. When the oil temperature reaches a certain extent, the restart of pipeline will be difficult, even solidification accident will be encountered at serious situation, then fatal economic loss and environmental pollution will be caused. In order to avoid solidification accident, h is necessary to accurately analyze and calculate the safe shutdown time of the pipeline. Based on the actual operating condition of Qing-Ha buried oil pipeline, simplified unsteady state beat transfer physical and mathematical models in shutdown time arc established. The temperature drop and carth-effecting temperature delayed rules of crude oil in shutdown process are obtained by using of the CFD simulation software, and the year round safe shutdown time of pipeline is confirmed. The rules provide theoretical guidelines for the safe operation oftbe pipeline.
