Evaluation on Thermal Hazard of Dicumyl Peroxide by Using Adiabatic Method

Dicumyl peroxide (DCP) is typical organic peroxide, which is widely used in chemical industry. In this paper, an adiabatic method is used to investigate the thermal hazard of dicumyl peroxide and compatibility of dicumyl peroxide with Na2CO3 or C6H60. On the basis of experimental results, kinetic parameters of exothermic reaction of DCP and mixture of DCP with 20% Na2CO3 or 20% C6H6O are obtained under real adiabatic condition. The compatibility of catalyst Na2CO3 or C6H6O with DCP is also calculated in adiabatic conditions. It can be seen from the results that the compatibility of mixture of DCP with Na2CO3is better than the mixture of DCP with C6H60, so it is more suitable for manufacturing DCP.
