Pilot Test Study on Real-time Monitoring of Casing Damage with Acoustic Emission Technology

The casing damage problem is always serious in the later stage of old field development The corresponding technology of detection and prediction has been much researched. The real-time monitoring technology, however, remains blank at present. We put forward the new theory of the real-time monitoring with acoustic emission technology and establish the complete set of test assembly for laboratory study. Several pilot tests with the simulative casings have been done. The results show that the relationship between acoustic emission signals and the corresponding deformation ones is definite during the casing distorting process. The distinctive features of the acoustic emission signals establish the theory and experiment basement for the development of new real-time monitoring technology.
