Safety Evaluation of Liuyanghe Tunnel Beneath a Water Pipe with a Big Cross Section
FLAC3d is used to establish a simulation model of the tunnel beneath a great water pipe to evaluate safety of tunnel construction and pipe through analyzing surrounding rock steady and deformation and mechanics of the pipe during every construction step. Results show: (1) pipe safety is satisfied and the critical step is to remove the temporary middle wall; (2) deformation of water pipe is very complex. Its transverse deformation is combined torsional deformation and subsidence deformation; Its longitudinal deformation firstly appears two troughs duo to the temporary middle wall, and finally seems a simple support beam with subsidence over the tunnel excavation and uplift at the two sides; (3) the maximum stress principle concentrates on the intersection between the tunnel and the water pipe while the minimum stress principle concentrates in the side wall; (4) there is no shear yhield failure but tensile yield failure distributing in the ground surface, down side of every excavation bench and the tunnel crown. This paper can give some reference for similar projects;
