Development and Application of Down Three Zones Theory on Mining Safety Evaluation above Confined Water
With twenty years research and production practice, the Down Three Zones theory has been playing an important role in the safety mining evaluation of coal seams above high-pressure aquifers and the prediction of the water inrush from coal seam floor. On the basis of former studies, the concept and origination, the development and application and the determination method of the Down Three Zones are summarized. The forming mechanism of the three zones under floor is further analyzed through theories of rock cracking mechanics; the definition of protecting zones in traditional three zones theory is newly divided and the Down Three Zones theory is systematically discussed. This paper aims to promote the intensive comprehension and extensive application of the theory, and thus to guide the mining activities above confined water.
