Research on Hidden Fire Hazard Judgment and Modification Based on Performance-based Concept

Hidden fire hazard is a concept used frequently to describe the harm of fire in the fire protection work. The main purpose of fire fighting supervision and inspection is to detect bidden fire hazard in time, modify and eliminate it promptly, and then achieve the goal of fire prevention. How to identify hidden fire hazard scientifically and reasonably, and then propose practical modification measures are difficult problems faced by fire prevention task. Along with the development of fire protection design method, the countries abroad brought forward a new concept which called performance-based design method since 1980s. This method is more reasonably, and has gained quick progress in the area of fire science. The paper reviews the basic methods, discusses the function of fire hazard assessment in the judgment and modification of hidden fire hazard. The basic frame to identify hidden fire hazard is constructed and some detailed explanation is given in the paper. Through theoretical analysis and practical application, the concept of performance-based method can propose a new approach to deal with hidden fire hazard and satisfy the building function requirement at the same time. The fire hazard assessment method will promote the modification of hidden fire hazard scientifically, reasonably, and cost-benefit optimal.
