Factors of New Ventures Performance in Russia

The purpose of this study is to discover factors of new ventures performance. Our selection of factors covers three dimensions: environment, company s management style and strategic behavior of organization. As a performance measure we used the change of sales volume. To study the data the one-factor variance analysis was used. Considering environment the variables influencing the new ventures performance include: crisis in industry, increase in the demand for the product, predictability of regulatory authorities behavior, predictability of financial markets, and hostility of environment. Speaking about company s management style several variables can be named statistically significant: level of centralization, concentration of management in the hands of the founder, role of the middle management. Considering strategic behavior only the strategy of prospector was found to have significant influence on the new venture performance. The results of regression analysis show that the model which consists of statistically significant factors is also statistically significant.
