Strategy-based Reading Course for Msc Students of China
The present article reports on an investigation into the reading processes of Master of Science (Msc) students with respect to research articles in their specialty area: Civil Engineering. Specifically,the study was aimed at exploring how strategy training influenced a group of readers declarative and procedural knowledge, and their choice and use of strategies while reading research articles. Two groups of Msc students (90 in all) took pre-and post-course questionnaire survey and reading tests. The tests provided evidence of the effectiveness of strategy training in improving the subjects familiarity with and proficiency in reading research articles.
