Translation and Interpreting Industry and Regional Economic Development
The relationship between culture industry and regional economic development has been a topic of much critical discussion．Most studies either have general analysis of the impact of culture on regional economic growth or elaborate on some specific culture industries，such as advertising industry,publishing industry,entertainment industry,and media industry．This paper attempts to explore the relationship between translation and interpreting(TT)industry and regional economic development by examining the situation,problems and possible solutions of China’s TI industry and its current and potential impact on the growth of regional economy．It argues that TI industry plays all increasingly important part in the sustainable development of regional economy in the global context,especially in changing regional economic structure and growth pattern，promoting competitiveness and shaping the images and identities of places．Therefore the importance of TI industry in regional economic development must be fully acknowledged and China’s TI industry needs to be further induswialized.
