Innovation and Network Structure:A Study of Wuhan Optoelectronic Cluster
This research investigates the rehtionship between a firm’s positions of network and innovation which focuses on Wuhan Optoelectronic cluster in China.Using binary logistic regression analysis, the paper posits that degree centrality and eigenvector centrality have a positively impact on the likelihood of gaining access to complementary knowledge which contribute to innovation but that closeness centrality and betweenness centrality have not statistically significant. Results from correlations show that only three centrality variables indicate a significant relationship with innovation.Among innovation and the different centrality variables the highest correlation is between innovation and betweenness centrality followed degree centrailty and eigenvector centrality. It seems to indicate support for the idea that being located in a central position leads to innovation and access tocomplementary knowledge.
