Urban-rural Integrated Development in Chengdu City:From Feasibility to Sustainability
Urban-rural integrated development is dedicated to solve dual structure problems in China. These problems can be classified into eight categories:lack of urban-rural integrated planning, different administrative management systems, infrastructure of urban area is much better than the countryside, unbalanced public service guarantee system, social guarantee system does not cover all the countryside, household registration system restricts the migration between urban and rural area, primary self-rule organizations not work very well, the disparity between the development of urban and rural areas. The paper suggests that the countryside provide ecosystem services and safety food supply exchange at equal values for the support of industry and city based on the analysis of Chengdu City. This study demonstrates an innovative approach using feasibility and sustainability angle of view.It gives a basis for the urban and the countryside coordination to solve the dual structure problems. However, the same approach can be used elsewhere after appropriate modifications.
