Process Technology for Manufacturing of Li-Ti Ferrites

In this paper an attempt has been made to study the effects of compacting pressure at green stage of Li-Ti ferrite components on green density and the relation of green density with the sintered density and thereafter dependence of sintered density upon sintering (soaking) time. Also the studies have been made to see the effect of sintering time on hardness of sintered components and study the methods of improving the electromagnetic properties by finding optimum dwell time of sintering. This is established fact that high sintered density and dense microstrueture leads to, better remenanee, less eoercivity, better squareness ratio, improved mechanical strength, less porosity and more uniform internal structure of ferrites. Therefore studies have been made to find the process parameters effecting the sintered density and porosity of Li-Ti ferrites. Further the characteristic property curves have been drawn to optimize the process variables to achieve most favorable values of hardness, sintered density and saturation magnetization. Empirical relations have been developed to generalize the prediction of these properties. Mathematical equations have been fitted for these property curves using Labfit software. This generated information may be of immense use for economic and high quality production of ferrites. The second study has been made, regarding addition of Bi2O3, in Li-Ti ferrite composition and subsequent effects on maximum temperature, sintered structure and insertion/return loss. Third study has been done regarding the deterioration in magnetic properties of Li-Ti ferrites with respect to time.
