Calculation of the Effective Parameters of Magnetic Piece Parts of an Asymmetric Parallel Magnetic Circuit
The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) has provided a set of formulae in the International Standard IEC 60205 Ed.3: Calculation of the Effective Parameters of Magnetic Piece Parts, by which everybody can reach the effective parameter values of closed circuits of ferromagnetic cores of symmetrical shapes and sizes. However, the effective parameters of some special cores can not be figured out by the formulae of IEC 60205 in the case that the centre limb of asymmetrical cores deviates from its centre location or the magnetic circuit is composed of two or more different branches in parallel. In this paper, another set of formulae is recommended, which can calculate the effective parameters of magnetic cores of an asymmetric parallel magnetic circuit. The effective parameters of symmetrical cores that can be figured out by the formulae of IEC 60205 have also been calculated by the new formulae and the two results are basically the same. In other words, as general expressions, the new calculation formulae are applicable to such symmetrical case, but it easily solved the problem about the calculation of the effective parameters of magnetic cores of an asymmetrical or multi-loop parallel magnetic circuit.
