A Study on the Role of SiO2 & ZrO2 in Controlling High Frequency Power Loss of MnZn Power Ferrite Material
A special focus was given to develop a very low power loss MnZn ferrite material which can be used at 1 MHz and above in power application. We have chosen a low ZnO content to achieve reasonably higher flux densities at operating temperatures. Simultaneous substitution of ZrO2 and SiO2 were done in addition to other standard additives and sintered in a special time-temperature-atmosphere profile. Initial permeability, saturation flux density, power loss, electrical resistivity, etc were measured. Microstructure studies were carried out using SEM pictures. Thus we could develop a MnZn ferrite material with high saturation flux density and initial permeability but with very low power loss at 500kHz & IMHz.
