Low-Temperature Reducing Chemistry:Synthetic Conditions of SrFeO2
We recently discovered that a novel low-temperature reaction of SrFeO3 with CaH2 as a powerful reducing agent resulted in the formation of SrFeCh that bears a square-planar coordination around iron. The obtained new oxide is thus of special importance not only due to the novelty of the coordination geometry but also due to intriguing properties such as an extremely high magnetic ordered temperature and oxygen absorptions at moderate temperatures. We show here a thorough inspection of the reaction conditions.
