Effect of Carbon Intermediate Layer on the Magnetic Property and Microstructure of CoCrPt/Ti Perpendicular Magnetic Recording Media
CoCrPt/C/Ti/glass thin films with different carbon layer thickness were prepared and subsequently annealed to investigate the effect of this thin carbon intermediate layer on the magnetic property and microstructure of CoCrPt/Ti perpendicular magnetic recording media. It is found that very thin carbon intermediate layer is helpful to increase the coercivity of CoCrPt/Ti thin films and insertion of carbon intermediate layer decreases the lattice mismatch between the Co-alloy magnetic layer and Ti underlayer. In addition, thinner carbon layer results in smaller grain size in CoCrPt magnetic layer.
