A review of factors affecting P release from aquatic sediments and controlling techniques
Phosphorus in water sediments plays an important role in eutrophication. Not all forms of P can be released and bioavailable.Phosphorus bound to Fe,Mn and A1 has the highest risk to be released into water, while Ca-bound phosphorus is generally released at low rates. As a sequential chemical extraction, the SMT protocol established by European Commission can provide both P forms and their bioavailability information.PhosphoruS release from sediments depends on a variety of physical, chemical and biological processes.Besides of the limitation of external inputs.many in-situ restorations have been developed. And the restorations mainly involve direct precipitation of P by metal salts, barrier insulation,in-situ stabilmarion and bioremediation by macrophytes.
