Degradation of landfill leachate by combined technics of freezedephlegmation and photocatalysis

Both cold energy and solar energy are important natural energy sources potential to explore.In this paper,combined technics of freeze-dephlegmation and TiO2 photocalysis was applied to the degradation of landfill leachate,taking full advantage of above natural energy.In the study,change of TOC(Total Organic Carbon),COD(Chemical Oxygen Demand)and absorbency was measured.The result indicated that the salinity and part of organic compound could be got rid of by frost treatment and the remove of salinity enhanced the efficiency of photocatalysis.In the course of freezing.Ice sample was obviously divided into four layers as micro-polluted layer,purity layer,mixed layer and concentrated layer after landfill leachate being completely frozen,and removal efficiency of ToC.COD and absorbency were 68.4%,77.5%and 89.6%respectively in the water thawned from micro-polluted layer and purity layer.The thawy water was ulteriorly treated by photocatalysis,and total removal efficiency of TOC,COD and absorbency were up to 86.9%,91.4%and 97.8%respectively,whereas removal efficiency of TOC,COD and absorbency was merely 34.6%,42.7%and 80.3%when landfill leachate was disposed by single photocayalysis treatment.
