Influence of redox conditions on speciation and assessment of potential ecological risk of heavy metals in the sediment of Fenhe reservoir

In the superficial sediment of Fenhe reservoir the concentration of Zn and Cd are 129.11+7.90mg/kg and 11.42±2.84 me/kg respectively. Both higher than the background values of lake sediments in China. The potential ecological risk index(RI)of Cd goes up to 2,346.57,which is much higher than that of other heavy metals such as Cr,Cu and Zn.So Cd iS the main element that causes the increase of potential ecological risk of heavy metalS in the sediment of Fenhe reservoir. The influence of redox conditions on the speciation and bioavailability of heavy metals are studied by the methods of BCR sequential extraction and acid ammonium acetate EDTA single extraction. The results show that the speciation and bioavailability of all heavy metals except Cu ale changed after changing redox conditions. And the change of Cd speciation is the most obvious. The percentage of its fraction of potential environmental effect(FPEE)reaches 52.15%under aerobic condition.EDTA single extraction experiment shows that the bioavailable fractions(B/T)of Cd under aerobic, anaerobic and original condition are 30.37%,14.7%and 23.3%,respectively.
