Enrichment of DNPAOs and characterization of biological phosphorus removal with O2 and as electron acceptors:Effect of different carbon sources and nitrate concentration

Effects of acetate-sodium concentration in the anaerobic stage and nitrate concentration in the anoxic stage on the inducement and enrichment of denitrifying phosphorus accumulating organisms (DNPlAos)were studied in an anaerobic(2h)/anoxic(2.75h)/aerobic(0.1h)sequencing batch reactor(SBR),at the same time,the difierent carbon source,such as methanol,acetate-sodium,butyric acid and glucose,was introduced respectively to investigate the emciency of DNPA.By adjusting the nitrate concentration.The percent of DNPIAOs to PAOs before inducement were 22%.And reached to 79%after inducement;when the ratio of COD to PO43-was 30.The quantity ratio of phosphorus uptake to the release was 1.58,the emciency of DNPA and nitrate removal reached to 89%and 98%.Respectively.The best removal ratio of △COD:△NO3:△PO4 was 1:O.18:0.22(gCOD:gN:gP);Acetate-sodium,butyric acid and glucose were all contributed to P-release,as well as P-uptake,and at the same COD concentration,the degressive order by the maximum quantity and rate of P-release was:acetate-sodium,butyric acid,glucose and methanol.Methanol,however,has insignificant or negligible effects on biological phosphorus removal,moreover,the concentration of orthophosphate in SBR was reduced actually at the beginning of anaerobic stage and then a slight P-release was observed when methanOl was injected.
