Although access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation are taken up together in Target 10 of the Millenniam Development Goals, sanitation has been attracting less attention, funding and human resources than water supply.Since it is well known that“up to 5.5 billion people will be without sanitation by the year 2035.if sanitation provisions continue to be installed based on the current standards, the new approach to achieve the Millennium Development Goals is required.A watershed mallagement should take care of several issues which include water supply;wastewater;waste;water quahty;and sanitation. As UNICEF reported that more than 1.2million tons of fresh human excreta deposited in the environment and water sources each day, sanitation system is one of the most important water related systems in watershed management.Since sanimtion system is not only a technological hardware but a soft system closely related to climate, social system, culture and economy of the region.
