Investigation on Blends of Polar SBS (PSBS) with PS and Ultrafine CaC03
Blends of polar styrene-butadiene-styrene triblock copolymer (PSBS), with polystyrene (PS) were prepared by melt blending with a twin-screw extruder. Processability, mechanical properties as well as morphology of PSBS/PS blends without and with the addition of ultrafine CaCO3 were characterized, and the influence of the concentration of PS, of a softener (naphthalene oil), and of ultrafine CaCO3 were studied. As displayed, the plasticity and macro mechanical properties of PSBS/PS blended thermoplastic elastomer increased with the content of PS, while elasticity decreased. However, continuous phase transition process will occur and destroy the elasticity of the PSBS/PS blends if too much PS is added.
