Synthesis and Characterization of the functionalized poly(ε-Caprolactone)

During the last few decades, clinical needs have motivated biomedical applications of biodegradable polymers.Currently used biodegradable polymers include polyesters, polyanhydrides, polyhydroxyalkanoates, polyphosphazenes, and their copolymers. Aliphatic polyesters such as polyglycolide (PGA), polylactide (PLA),poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) and their copolymers have received great interest in medical applications, such as drug delivery systems, sutures, artificial skins, orthopedics, and scaffold for tissue engineering, because of their excellent biodegradabilities and biocompatibilities.
