Acrylic Fibers Processing with lonic Liquid as Solvents
Due to its notable properties such as soft and wool-like aesthetics and resists ultraviolet fading, acrylic fiber is widely applied as the raw material for apparel, home furnishings, outdoor articles or industrial end products,particularly in the aviation and space fields. The most popular processing technology for polyacrylonitrile(PAN) fibers is solution spinning including wet spinning and dry spinning although the thermoplastic process has been proposed in 1990s. Both in the process of wet or dry spinning, large amount of deleterious solvents are needed which are difficult to be recovered and unfriendly to the environment. The pollution of solvents brought from the solution process for polymers always conflicts with the benefit from products for consumers. Therefore,environmentally friendly solvents have been searching in both academia and industry, for example, ionic liquids (Ils).1
