Study on double emulsion - solvent evaporation technique for the fabrication of biodegradable microbubbles applicable for ultrasound contrast agent
Microbubbles have recently attracted increasingly attention due to their widely application in biomedical field, such as drug and gene delivery vehicles, blood substitutes, especially as ultrasound contrast agents (USCAs) to enhance echo signals. USCAs are usually gas bubbles with the diameter of a few microns. The shell to stabilize microbubbles may be composed of protein, surfactant, polymer or lipid. Biodegradable synthetic polymers, for their good mechanical property as well as adjustable performance, become one kind of promising material to construct the shell of USCAs.
