THE AGGREGATION AND ASSEMBLY OF REGENERATED SILK PROTEIN
In nature, we can find many examples of spontaneous self-association of molecules into structurallywell-defined architectures on mesoscopic to macroscopic length scales. In particular, β-sheet structure has received considerable attention for its self-assembling properties, e.g. the fiberized process of silk protein (fibroin), etc. Understanding and controlling the self-assembly process of β-sheet in proteins may provide unique opportunities in the design of supramolecular structures for advanced material applications.
