Hierarchical Structured Supramolecular Fibers:Oriented Dendronized Polymer

The fabrication of hierarchical structured materials that mimic the multi-order architectures observed in thebiomaterials has aroused numerous research interests.1 Recently, more and more efforts have been extended to employ synthetic organic macromolecules to construct hierarchical structures that have various specialfunctions.2 However, how to control the architecture of the assembled materials through tuning the molecularstructure and assembling condition, keeps still challenging. Herein, we report the fabrication and study of hierarchically structured fibers of a dendronized polymer that was prepared by drawing in their columnar phase.SAXS study indicated that the oriented structure has an orientation order parameter <P2> = 0.83. It means thatsuch dendronized polymers are good candidates for manufacturing fibers with special mechanic properties.
