Core-Shell-Corona Au/Micelle Composites

Gold nanoparticles(GNs) have been extensively studied due to their special size effects compared to the bulk metal, as well as their perspective in applications such as catalysts, sensors, electronics and photonics. The formation of GNs is generally carried out in substrates such as dendrimers, latex particles, microgels, or other polymers etc, which have been widely used as nano-reactors and carriers for the GNs, and as stabilizers for preventing the GNs from aggregation. In particular, fabrication of GNs using block copolymers is currently a subject of extensive research since block copolymers can offer powerful capabilities for synthesizing GNs, and effective means for controlling particle location and pattern based on their rich diversity of structures.Furthermore, the properties of the formed composites consisting of GNs and block copolymers can be modulatednot only through the nature of their constituting units but also through the distances of the neighboring particlesor the morohology of the whole system.
