Rheological behavior of cellulose in ionic liquid
Since Swatloski etc1 reported that ionic liquids (ILs) are nonderivatizing solvents for cellulose, ionic liquids areknown as another green solvent for processing cellulose fibers except for N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide(NMMO). Investigation of the dissolution and regeneration of cellulose is being focused on2. However, ionicliquid, as a new solvent, is quite different from the conventional molecular solvent due to its unique ionicstructure. The special inter action between ionic liquid and cellulose macromolecule leads to novel solutionbehavior of cellulose/ionic liquid. Therefore, the rheological behavior of cellulose/ionic liquid solutions wasinvestigated to illustrate the molecule orientation in sheared cellulose/ionic liquid solutions and further predictthe spinnability of the cellulose/ionic liquid solutions.
