Crystallisation of Polyolefins Induced by Nucleating Agents
Controlling the properties of semi-crystalline polyolefins (SCP) via their structure and morphology is a majorissue in polymer science. In the bulk state, the structure and morphology of SCP rest on molecular architectureand processing conditions. In particular, substantial improvements of mechanical and optical properties areachieved via addition of nucleating agents (NA). NAs nucleate SCP crystallisation, they increase thecrystallisation temperature and decrease the average spherulite size. Occasionally, some NAs promote metastablecrystal phase(s) beneficial for certain applications.
